Biography

According to the Chelmsford, Massachusetts Bay death Records under Butterfield, Sam[ue]ll son of Sam [ue] ll and Rachell, Died December 16, 1704.

Research Notes

Some researchers say that she died in 22 Feb 1730 Chelmsford, Middlesex, Province of Massachusetts Bay, while others say 18 Aug 1763 in Chelmsford, Middlesex, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America. No sources are cited for either date. The death year is set to the year her last identified child was born with the "after" flag set.

Rachel was living in 1737 when her husband wrote his will.^[1]

• From the book located in the Maine Historical Library, Portland, Maine: by (Unknown Butterfield) " The Butterfield Family of Standish, Brownfield, and Hiram, Maine" on 7 December 1703, married Daughter of Deacon Andrew and Hannah ( Jeffts) Spaulding. [Samuel Butterfield ] His Will, made 24 October 1734, probate 26 December 1737, on file at Middlesex County Registry.

[Samuel and Rachel Butterfield] had 10 Children.
