Biography

Birth
Based upon her marriage in 1624 she is estimated to have been born about 1600 probably Lincolnshire, England where she married and had most of her children before emigrating to Boston, Massachusetts Bay Colony.

Marriage and Children
The marriage of Stephen Kinsley and Mary Spaulding took place on 29 April 1624. [1] She and Stephen had six children, all but the youngest were born in England:

  1. Elizabeth Kinsley bap. bef 24 Apr 1625, Sutterton, Lincolnshire, England [2] ; buried 29 Sep 1628
  2. Samuel Kinsley bap. bef 25 Jun 1626, Sutterton, Lincolnshire, England [3]
  3. Stephanus Kinsley, bap. 30 Mar 1628, Sutterton, Lincolnshire, England [4]
  4. Tabitha Kinsley bap. 7 Feb 1630, Sutterton, Lincolnshire, England [5] ; m. bef. 1655, Dorchester/Milton, MA. as his 1st wf Henry Crane (b. abt 1625 in Dorchester, Norfolk, England and who d. 21 Mar in Milton, MA.). Henry m. 2nd her sister Elizabeth Kinsley
  5. Lydia Kinsley bap. 6 Dec 1632, Sutterton, Lincolnshire, England [6] ; m. 1650, Dorchester/Milton, MA. [as his 1st wf] Anthony Gulliver [7]
  6. John Kinsley "bap. 6 Dec 1635, Sutterton, Lincolnshire, England [8] ; m. Susanna Daniell, 25 Jun 1669 ; he d. 12 Dec 1698 & wife "Susanah, d. 13 Nov 1670, Milton" [9]
  7. Mary Kinsley b. 30 Aug 1640 Boston, Norfolk, MA. [10] ; "Mary(?) Kinsley, dau of Stephen m. ______ Gross, by 1666(?), Milton, Mass."[11]

"1655 Stephen Kinsley, (originally in 1639 a Mount Wollaston resident) with sons-in-law Anthony Gulliver & Henry Crane, [who all had] adjacent farms in part of Dorchester later incorporated 1662 as Milton." [12]

Death
Mary's death record is believed to have been recorded as: "______ wife of Elder (Stephen) Kinsley aka Kinsly passed away 10 January 1668 at Milton, Massachusetts." [9] Husband the "Elder Stephen Kinsley" passed away 4 June 1673 also at Milton. [9]

Research Notes
There was a Mary Spalding born on 9 Nov 1606 to Willfrett Spaulding in Middlesex, England.[13]
