12. Sampson SPALDING was born on 19 Nov 1745 in Tewksbury, Middlesex, Massachusetts.6 He died in Jan 1832 at the age of 86 in Ohio.[1]

He res. in Tewksbury, Mass., a number of years; he then removed to Heath, Mass., afterwards to the State of Ohio, where he died Jan., 1832. He was a soldier in the Revolutionary war, served through the seven-years' struggle, and participated in the Battle of Lexington. He was a private in Sherebiah Butt's Co.; marched from the town of Canterbury "for the Relief of Boston, In the Lexington Alarm,; April 1775, serving nineteen days. He served as a private in Capt. Obadiah Johnson's Co., col. Israel Putnam's Regt.; enlisted May 9, 1777 discharged Dec. 16, 1775. He served as Sergeant in Capt. Daniel Clark's Co., Col. Jonathan Latimer's Regt.; attached Aug. 24, 1777; discharged October 30, 1777. He served as a private in Capt. David Cady's Co., Col. Samuel Chapman's Regt.; entered service August 2, 1778; discharged Sept. 12, 1778. Children all born in Tewksbury, Mass. Experience MERRILL and Sampson SPALDING were married.
