Biography

Meshack Lafayette Speed 32 was born on 21 Jul 1863 in Covington County, Mississippi, died on 14 May 1907 in Kentwood, Louisiana at age 43, and was buried in 1907 in McDaniel Cemetery, Pike Co., Mississippi.

Meshack died of blood poisoning from an injury received when a log rolled over his foot while he was employed by Brooks Scanlon Lumber Company in Kentwood, Louisiana. At the time of his death, "Shack" had almost completed a new home for his family in Chatawa, Mississippi. After his death Minnie and their children moved into it.

Meshack married Minnie (Lonna) Ford circa 1885 in Covington County, Mississippi. Minnie was born in Nov 1870 in Covington County, Mississippi.

Meshack next married Minnie Louise McDaniel, daughter of John McDaniel and Mary Elizabeth Newman, on 1 Jan 1890 in Mississippi. Minnie was born on 29 Nov 1869 in Pike County, Mississippi, died on 6 Dec 1944 in Kentwood, Louisiana at age 75, and was buried in 1944 in McDaniel Cemetery, Pike Co., Mississippi.
