Dec 30, 1926 The death of Mrs Minetta Hollis, widow of the late John B Hollis, occurred at her Christiansburg home Sunday evening at 7:30 at the age of 73 years 6 months and 15 days. She had been in declining health caused from diabetis for some time but only about 3 weeks had she been bedfast. She was the daughter of William and Eliza Spence, having been born near North Hampton. She moved to Christiansburg after her marriage and spent the remainder of her life there with the exception of 2 years. Her marriage to Mr Hollis took place April 6, 1875. They had an elaborate celebration of their golden wedding anniversary in April of last year. Mr Hollis died last February, they had no children. Mrs Hollis was a member of the Methodist Church of Christiansburg and Eastern Star Lodge of Troy. An even disposition and a life filled with activity were her outstanding charateristics. She had lived in the same home for about 44 years and was one of the oldest citizens of the village.
