Margaret Spencer was probably born in 1854 in Canada. She was the daughter of Richard Spencer and his wife Mary Purcell, who had emigrated from Ireland.
According to various records, she was baptised 14 Nov 1854 in Peterborough Canada, born about 1853 in Ireland,[1] about 1852,[2] or about 1856 in Canada[3].
In the 1861 Canada census, she was living with her parents Richard and Mary Spencer, and her siblings, in Peterborough, Canada West [now Ontario].[3]
In the 1871 Canada census, she was still living with her parents and siblings in Peterborough.[1]
Maggie married Michael Conway on 22 Sept 1877 in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.[4]
They had several children including:
Catherine "Kate" Conway, who married Alexander Winchester.
