Emmons Spencer was born July 3, 1761 the son of Captain Ebenezer and Hannah (Gates) Spencer and married Mary Higgins August 27 1798. Emmons was living in Genesee, NY on March 4, 1831 and died sometime after that.

Children of Emmons and Mary:

• Emmons and Mary had twin children on June 3, 1781; both were unnamed and the first died the same day and the other twin died 8 days later on June 11, 1781.
• A daughter, Melinda, was born September 24, 1782 in Lenox, MA., married April 1, 1818 James Samson Presho in New Labanon, NY, and died April 28 1859 at the age of 76.
• Another daughter, Polly or perhaps Mary, was born October 26, 1783 in Lenox, and died October 24, 1813 and is buried in Peru, MA.; her inscription says “Miss”.
• A son, Edward, was born about 1785 and went from Massachusetts to Wilna, NY at an early age. He married about 1825 Polly Maynard and they had at least four children.
• A son, Edward, was born about 1785. He removed at an early age to Wilna, NY and married about 1825 Polyy Maynard; they had four children.
• A daughter, Sarah or “Sally” was born March 11, 1787 in Lenox and married Willian Bowen (AKA William Brown) on November 13, 1806. They had five children and Sally died young at age 42. William married 2nd Betsey Perry.
• A son, Erastus, was born November 29, 1790 in Peru; no further record.
