Dorothy Spencer was the third daughter of Robert Spencer, Esq, and Dorothy née Stovin, of Hodsock Priory, Nottinghamshire. She was born in 1771.
On 10 October 1793 at the Chapel of Austerfield, by Rev Edward Mason, Junior Minister, she married 1ly her cousin, Robert Bigsby, a solicitor, of St Peter's Church, Nottingham. Witnesses were Henry Heaton and (the bride's sister) Mary Spencer. They had issue one daughter.
She died on 7 February 1799.
Her widower remarried to Sophia Bray and had issue one son and one daughter.
