Hi Chet, It looks like you may have some outstanding merges that need attention. You can find them by following the link at the top of this page under >My Wikitree>Watchlist, then hit the button that says Pending Merges. If you need help, just ask. IF you feel like you cannot handle all the profiles on your watchlist, there is no shame is orphaning profiles to allow others to work them.
Thanks for reaching out. I took a look at the Pending Merges and they are all Pre 1500's. Which according to Wikitree, I'm incompetent of comparing matching data.
It seems like Wikitree could improve the pre 1500 merge feature by allowing anyone with that skillset to approve the merges.
For clarification, I always approve all obvious merges. When Wikitree tells me to "Ask for Help with this Merge" AFTER I've approved a merge, I just hit the back button and delete the email notification. I really don't have time to ask for help.
Otherwise, Wikitree is amazing and I appreciate everyone's efforts in chipping in on our family tree.
Even though you cannot complete the merges, as the profile manager you are responsible for the review and approval of the merge. No on else can complete the merge until you do the approval. Thanks for your help.
I understand and I always approve merge requests that come my way. If they actually get completed do to the restrictions placed by Wikitree, that's out of my hands.
Most of the profiles concerned should be unlocked and/or curated by others :)
Hi Chet: Interesting that you are an organ builder. I have studied organ. I'm a concert classical and jazz pianist. My Spencer lineage goes back 4 or five generations back to the Bahamas and then to The Spencers at Althrop. jamesrspencer.com.
Was on Diana, Princess of Wales Wikitree Profile. Saw your name and went to your Profile. Ran the your genealogical relationship with Chet. No luck, so ran Search 30 Generations and struck pay dirt. Got Chet and John are 15th cousins once removed (Uncertain). On your side I saw both Mildred (Reade) Warner and George Tailboys. Mildred, as I'm sure you must know, was President Washington's great grandmother.
George Tailboys' wife Elizabeth was descended from Edward III, While that's hardly a strange feat, 70% of those from England are also. Edward's 23rd granddaughter is Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge. Both relationships are listed in an article by Anthony Adolph at URL
https://anthonyadolph.co.uk/princess-catherine/
It's an article that requires scrolling down about 50 screen before the footnotes. There is a video link of the author, Anthony Adolph, talking about the ancestry of HRH Prince George of Cambridge. It's just over a minute long at URL
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wh8OanxfYUs
Mr. Adolph was writing for the British public. He didn't think he needed to include every spouse or date involved.
THE ROYAL ANCESTRY OF H.R.H. THE DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE AND H.R.H. PRINCE GEORGE OF CAMBRIDGE In the pedigrees below, each generation is listed in order: each person listed is the offspring of the one above, and parent of the one below.
This last paragraph starts the genealogy section of this article at about screen 20. The connection to George Tailboys isn't for 24 more screens down.
PRINCESS CATHERINE’S COUSINSHIP WITH PRESIDENT GEORGE WASHINGTON
is the header for this section. Adolph erred in the spelling of Mary Ball.
Since it was not in the direct line, Mr. Adolph did not include Elizabeth's son, Gilbert Tailboys. Gilbert was created Baron Tailboys of Kyme, after he married Lady Elizabeth "Bessie" Blount. After she gave birth to the only illegitimate issue of Henry VIII that he acknowledged, Cardinal Wolsey found her a husband in Gilbert.
There are lots of connections if you know where to look. [Note, anything underlined is a link to elsewhere.]
