Biography
Jane was born in about 1839 in Cricklade, Wiltshire. [1] Her father was Abraham, a labourer. [2]
In 1862 Jane had a daughter Elizabeth while she was still single. [3]
On 19 September 1862 Jane married twice widowed John Hopkins, in Cheltenham. John was a Cooper as was his father Stephen. Jane's father Abraham was a labourer. John was 47 years older than Jane. [2] (Perhaps they married in Cheltenham because of the disapproval they might have had in Cricklade..)
In 1871 John and Jane were living in Cricklade, Wiltshire with Jane's daughter Elizabeth Spencer. John was 79, Jane was 32. [1] John died in 1873.
In 1873 Jane married again, to Richard Couling. They married in Cirencester. [4]
