Daniel Goodwin married in 1654 [1], Margaret, daughter of Thomas and Patience (Chadbourne) Spencer of South Berwick, Maine. Margaret was the granddaughter of William Chadbourne, who emigrated in 1634 from Devonshire, England following his son Humphrey Chadbourne who came to America in 1631; Humphrey Chadbourne built the "Great House" at Strawberry Bank (Portsmouth). He was deputy to the General Court in 1657 and 1659, and Associate Judge in 1662. [2]
Margaret's father, Thomas Spencer, first settled in Cambridge then removed to Kittery, Maine where he had a lawsuit in Maine Court on March 6, 1636-7; he then took oath of allegiance to Massachusetts government on 16 Nov. 1652. He gave a dowry of land to his daughter Margaret, and afterward confirmed it to her husband Daniel Goodwin, 14 Aug 1667.
After the death of Margaret Spencer, her husband Daniel Goodwin remarried in 1670 to Sarah (Sanders), widow of Peter Turbet and the daughter of John Sanders of Ipswich, Salisbury, Hampton, Wells and Cape Porpoise; wife Anne." [3]
