Biography
John Spencer was born in the Colony of Victoria (1851-1900)
John William Spencer was born about 1875, his birth registered that year in Sale, Victoria, the son of Michael Spencer and Ellen Owens. [1]
In 1913, in Victoria, he married Caroline Millett. [2] [3]
John and Caroline had one child:
- William Owen Spencer (1913–?)[4]
John passed away in 1941, aged 61 years. His death was registered Sale, giving Sale as his birthplace and naming his parents Michael Spencer and Ellen Owens. [5]

- SPENCER.-On March 17, 1941, at the Gippsland Hospital, Sale, John William, dearly loved husband of Caroline, and loving father of William. Aged 61 years.

- PERSONAL
- The death occurred at the Gippsland Hospital on Monday last of Mr. John William Spencer, dairyman, of Desailly Flat. The deceased, who was a well-known and highly respected resident of the district, had, attained the age of 61 years. He had been ailing for some time past. He is survived by his widow and son Mr. William Spencer to whom sympathy is extended. [7]
Following a service on 18th March, 1941, his remains were interred in the Sale Cemetery. In 1962, he was joined by his widow. [8]
