The Spencer's originated in Rhode Island and their lineage takes them back to Stotfold, Bedfordshire, England. Their ancestor John Spencer was born in 1638 in Lynn, Essex Co., MA. The Spencer's were Quakers who first settled near Coeymans New York and then later in Southwestern Albany County / Southeastern Schoharie County.
