Biography

Abigail Spicer, daughter of Thomas Spicer and Rebecca Day, was born on 25 January 1743 in Waterford township, Gloucester county, Colony of New Jersey. [1]

Abigail was wed to William Rudderow on 4 (or 25) May 1758 in Monmouth, Gloucester county, New Jersey. Both Abigail and William were adherents of the Church of England. [2] [3] [4] [5] Abigail and William had the following known children:

  1. John Rudderow, 1759–1840;
  2. Jane Rudderow, 1760–;
  3. Thomas Rudderow, 1761–;
  4. Abigail Rudderow, 1764–1842;
  5. Elizabeth Rudderow, 1766–;
  6. William Rudderow, 1769–;
  7. Spicer Rudderow, 1772–;
  8. Jacob Rudderow, 1775–;
  9. Humphrey Rudderow, 1779–1825.

Abigail and William went to live at the Cherry-tree Tavern near Merchantville. [6]
