Biography

Richard was born in 1832, baptised in November at Smarden [1]. He was the son of William Spicer and Eliza Wilmshurst. On 8 Jan 1841 the family including their children (both from their marriage and Elizabeth's previous marriage) emigrated to New Zealand aboard the Lord William Bentinck from London, UK. They settled in Wellington (they arrived on 19 May 1841), where George took a farm on the old Porirua Road. He passed away in 1914. [2]
