James William died on August 21, 1917 in Wadsworth, Leavenworth, Leavenworth, Kansas aged 71. He was living in the Home for Disabled Volunteer Veterans, which he was admitted in 191 for his served in the 21st Missouri Infantry, US Civil War.[1]
He is buried in Leavenworth National Cemetery, Section 33, Row 4, Site 28, in Leavenworth, Kansas. [2]
