Biography

Joseph Thornton Sprague was born at Plantation No. 7 (now Baileyville), Maine, c1809, the son of Eli Sprague and Jane Livermore Thornton; died at Princeton, Maine, 24 Jul 1882.

Joseph Sprague was among those who petitioned, 2 Oct 1827, that "Plantation Number Seven, Eastern Division, Bingham Lands" (Baileyville) be incorporated as a town (see PDF of signatures attached to this profile). [1]

Sarah Jane Bailey died in 1797, so it would be impossible for her to be Joseph Thornton Sprague's mother. Eli Sprague married Jane Livermore Thornton in 1798, so wouldn't Jane have to be Joseph's mother?
