She was the daughter of Thomas Spratt, one of the earliest settlers in the area who came down from Pennsylvania. His farm lay near what is now Caswell Rd. & Randolph Rd., near the back of Presbyterian Hospital complex.--Ann married John Barnett; 5 children: Mary, Ann, William W., Susanna, & a son whose name is not known. Her original grave was near her daughter Susanna Barnett Smartt & family, on the Smartt farm which was off Nations Ford Road. The remains of those from that graveyard were moved to Sharon Memorial Park in 1988. (Information is from grave marker, census records and a book "Charlotte: Spirit of the New South" by Mary Norton Kratt. Parents: Thomas Spratt 1685-1757, Mary Clark Spratt spouse: John Barnett 1717-1804 m. 1745, siblings: 1. Andrew Spratt 1708-1772, 2. Thomas Kanawha Spratt 1731-1807, 3. Susanna Spratt Polk 1734-unknown, 4. Jean Spratt Neel 1740-1825. Children of John and Ann Spratt Barnett: 1.Willilam Barnett 1747-1834, 2. Thomas Barnett 1754-1776. 3. Jean Barnett 1756-1776. 4. Susanna Barnett Smartt 1761-1852.
