Biography

Sarah (Spriggs) Tye was born in Northamptonshire, England.

Sarah was born in 1836. Her parents were John Spriggs and Mary Nussey. She was christened on 8 May 1836 at Desborough, Northamptonshire. Her maternal grandparents John and Sarah Nussey are named on the christening record.^[1]

In 1841 she lived at Buckel Street, Desborough, Northamptonshire, England with her parents John and Mary Ann Spriggs and siblings Josiah (13), Joseph (10), Johanna (8), Joshua (6), Jacus (3) and John (6 months).^[2] In 1848 Sarah left Liverpool, England with her father John Spriggs, his step mother Sarah, and siblings Joseph (19), Josiah (18), Joshua (14), Janus (10), Jno (8) and a six month old infant, along with Ellen Bull (12) and Edward Bull (10;. They sailed on the John R Skiddy and arrived at New York, New York, United States on 27 September 1848,^[3]
