After Emigrating to the USA in 1849[1], he Lived in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Charles enlisting in the US Navy 1862 during the Civil War aboard the USS Vindicator Steamer[2][3]After being discarged 1 July 1865,[4]
He married Mary Ann Darragh. They had 7 children in 25 years. It's possible Charles had a previous marriage to Rosemond Cain about 1851. His first 4 children would have been from that marriage.[5][6]1860 US Census has C Sproul as married to R Sproul with 3 children. Transcriped incorrectly as C Powell.[7]
He died on 1 Jan 1911, in Oakmont, Pennsylvania, having lived a long life of 82 years, and was buried in Allegheny Cemetery, 4 Jan 1911.[8][4]
