Gerenia Spry was born on 24 MAR 1916^[3] at Trenton, Todd, Kentucky.^[4] or Tullahoma, Tennessee. She was the daughter of John Spry and Mertie Travis.^[5]

In 1920, Geruna Spry lived in with her parents, J W and Mertie Spry, and seven siblings. J. W. was a farmer.^[6]

Based on the age of their oldest child, Gerenia Mai Spry and Roy Newcomb were married about 1934.^[7] Roy died in 1956.

in 1940, Roy and Geremia Newcomb lived in Pembroke, Magisterial District 4, Christian, Kentucky. Roy worked as a truck driver for a private business.^[7]
