Deaths.
FORTNEY.––On Wednesday, Jan. 5, 1887, at home in Valley District, after a long illness, Mrs. Emily Fortney, wife of Barton Fortney. The deceased was prostrated with paralysis several months prior to her death, and was a great sufferer for several years. She was about 70 years of age. She leaves a husband and ten children to mourn her loss. She united with the Methodist Church in early life, and has lived an exemplary Christain [sic[ life ever since. Her remains were laid to rest in the Bethlehem Cemetery to day. Peace to her ashes.

Deaths.
FORTNEY.––The death angel has visited our neighborhood and claimed as his own, Emily Fortney, wife of Barton Fortney. She was born in Kingwood, April 11, 1817, and was married to Barton Fortney, October 20, 1842, and departed this life January 5, 1887. She was converted at the age of 14, and led an exemplary christian life up to her death. She was a kind and faithful mother, and commanded the love and respect of all who knew her. She was the light and comfort of her home for many years. The funeral sermon was preached at the Bethlehem Church by the Rev. David Rogers. Her remains were interred in the Fortney cemetery near the Bethlehem Church. She leaves a husband and ten children to mourn her loss.
