Biography

Name

Name: John /St JOHN/
Name Suffix: of Faumont

The suffix of Faumont is non-traditional and may be too long for the WikiTree suffix.

Birth

Birth:
Date: ABT 1246

Removed ABT from Birth Date and marked as uncertain.

Marriage

Sir John Saint John of Ffonman, Knight, second son and heir to his brother; m. Beatrix, daughter of Jo. Broye. Father of Alexander Seint John of Fanmon, sonne and heire; he married Elizabeth, daughter and one of the heires of Sir Henry Humfrevyle of Penmarke in com. Glamorgan, Knight. [1]

Notes

I added Alexander as a son, as per this Visitation of Bedfordshire pedigree, but this pedigree seems to jump a couple generations, after Alexander, and the marriages are a real mess. The pedigree attached to Alexander seems to work with the records, so far, down to the Oliver who marries Margaret de Beauchamp.

John St. John, 1st Baron of Lageham, Stanton-St. John and Instow d. June 1316 married Beatrix Broy - parents of Alexander St. John, of Instow and East Luccombe. Alexander and his mother Beatrix presented at Instow. Instow had been in the St. John family of Stanton-St. John from Walter de Claville of Domesday and passed down to Alexander of Instow and then to his son Oliver.

John de Port-St. John's (son of William) wife is unknown.

The St. Johns and de Port-St. johns have different paternal ancestors. Ralph St. John of St. Jean-le-Thomas and Adam de Port of Basing.

I tried looking and I am getting a RIP error. I tried the capcha AND it does not work. I was going to log in, but there is nowhere to log in.

I would love to look at that since I am a St John descendant.

You are merging the de Port-St. John lineage up with the St. Johns of Stanton-St. John, Instow, East Luccombe, Weobley, Odyn's Fee and Highlight.

Here is the correct lineage for Alexander St. John and his parents. https://www.stjohngenealogy.com/getperson.php?personID=SSH0009&tree=OSA0001

The St. Johns and de Port-St. Johns have different Y-STR DNA results. They have different lineages. They share ancient ancestors and surname but are two very distinct families with their own history to honor.
