There are serious parentage issues relating to John & Mary Stacy and their alleged parentage of Simon Stacy who moved to Virginia in the 1660's. Early Stacy genealogists seem to have combined two different "John and Mary Stacy" couples, one from North Petherton, the other from Essex (on the other side of England), into a single couple.
Per N.Petherton records, John and Mary Stacy had six children between 1636 and 1652: Mary, Simon, John, Cresset Melchisadek and (probably) Henry. They are supposed to have relocated to Essex where Thomas, William and others were born. But Melchisadek Stacy died in N. Petherton in May 1655, long after they are supposed to have moved all the way across the country to Colchester, Essex. This suggests a conflation between unrelated John Stacy's, and erroneous assignment of siblings for Simon the immigrant.
Research on this issue is forthcoming.
