Research Issues

  • Source 1036590 leads to a transcribed document, not a source document. It is for a William Stanley whos parents were William and Elizabeth Stanley. William’s spouse was not an Elizabeth. Apparently a different William Stanley.
  • Not clear what information is being cited from the Valentine source.
  • This William Stanley was born abt 1717 in Virginia and died in 1784.
  • William Stanley d1784 was Sr, NOT Jr. His son who died in 1830 is on the 1810 US Federal Census as William Stanley Jr and was witness (as shown) to his will.
  • William Stanley d1784 married Judith, maiden name unknown. No source has ever identified her maiden name as Hanna or any other.
  • William Stanley d1784 died in Henry County, Virginia not in North Carolina. Franklin County, Virginia was formed in 1785 and this portion of Henry Co became part of Franklin County.
  • William Stanley d1784 is buried on the burial grounds between the Mullins and Stanley properties in Franklin County, Virginia
  • Some (or all) of William’s children are named in his will.
  • Collaboration is needed to add references to source documents which should help resolve some of the issues with this profile.

On January 11, 1729, William Stanley was born to William Stanley and Eliza [1].

On March 19, 1729, William was Christened, in Bristol Parish, Prince George, Virginia[2].

Standley-419 and Stanley-1150 are not ready to be merged because: The birth dates are identical but the death dates are not and should be researched and agreed before any changes made.

The surname used should be the same as the rest of the profile Stanley's or Standley's.
