Nellie (Stanley) Doby was born in North Carolina.

Cornelia Francis "Nellie" Stanley was born on 15 Feb 1894 in Surry County, North Carolina to Weldon L Stanley (1857-1935) and Ida Joanne Wood (1867-1899).

On the 1900 Census she was 6 years old, living in Marsh, Surry County, North Carolina with her parents and siblings. [1]

On the 1910 Census she was 16 years old and was living with her parents and siblings in Marsh, Surry County, North Carolina. She had attended school but could not read or write. [2]

On 26 Nov 1916 at the age of 22 years, she married William Pinkney Doby (1898-1966) in Surry County, North Carolina. [3]

On the 1920 Census she was 25 years old and living with her husband and 1 child in Rockford, Surry County, North Carolina. She was not able to write. [4]

On the 1930 Census she was 31 years old and living with her husband and 5 children in Ruffin, Rockingham County, North Carolina, USA. It states that she was 18 years old when she married, had not attended school, and could not read or write. [5]

There is no record of her on the 1940 Census.

On the 1950 Census she was 56 years old and living with her husband and 4 children in Cheeks, Orange County, North Carolina on 3 Mile Road between Buckhorn and Cheeks Crossing. [6]

On 10 Dec 1961 at Alamance County Hospital in Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina she passed away from acute coronary thrombosis due to pulminary embolism that resulted from arteriosclerotic heart disease. She was burined at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Dobson, Surry County, North Carolina. [7] [8]
