Congratulations, you've been a WikiTree member for a month! We're glad you're here. A few tips to help you dive in even deeper:
Check out Beyond the Basics of WikiTree for a guide on some of our more advanced features such as Projects, Categories, and Merging.
We're very active on our social sites and we have an excellent blog where you'll find our monthly newsletter as well as tips, interviews with our members and guest posts from others in the genealogy community.
As always, I'm here to help if you have any questions!
I have been working on a large Stanley family of descendants of Thomas Stanley The Immigrant. I would be very interested in seeing how you might tie in.
There's a lot of great resources, and fantastic people here at WikiTree, but also a good deal of learning to get started. Best place to start, what you already know... begin by adding profiles for your parents, and grandparents. Use the help files (tab in the top right corner) and get a good feel for how things are done... Then we can start working to grow that tree!
Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions or need any help... After all we're all working on the same great big World-Wide-Tree. So helping each other helps us all. And don't forget to say Thank You
Hello Holly, You are now a member of the WikiTree Community - We are building One Collaborative Tree, with just one profile per person, so it is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add Profiles to WikiTree.
"Sources are critically important for genealogy. Some even say that genealogy without sources is mythology. Even if you're just a casual family historian recording modern family history, you will be helping future genealogists by listing where the information you've added came from."
If you have pre-1700's ancestors to add, please read our Pre-1700 profiles info. Please, be sure to include a list of the sources used, on each profile you add.
If you need any help getting started check out the Help Index or the G2G forum - Good luck growing your branches, Patt
