Biography

Pamela was born in on 14 July 1933.

Her Father was a bridge inspector for Queensland Rail, and they lived in Gladstone, Alpha, Howard, Maryborough before finally settling in Bundaberg. Her Father built their home at Duncraigen Street, and they resided in a shed during construction.

She attended Bundaberg State High School and enjoyed playing netball.

She rode her bicycle into Bundaberg every day when she was working. Her employment was at Barson's Studios, a photographic studio, where she coloured in black and white photos. She also worked at John Black's, selling shoes.

She met and married John (Jack) Ferguson in 1955. They held their wedding at the Church of England, on the corner of Maryborough and Woongarra Streets. The members of the Caledonian pipe band (who Jack was a member of) gave them a guard of honor. The reception was the first to be held in the Norville Hall, Maynard Street, Bundaberg.

Their first home was in 95 Walker Street, just up the hill from Saltwater Creek, where the first of their three children were born, John 1956, Stephen 1957 and David 1959. After purchasing a sugar cane farm, the family moved to Gooburrum Road, a mile from the local school. That year Keryn was born, followed 4 years later with Allan.

When they sold the farm in 1980, they moved to a house in East West Avenue, Avoca, Bundaberg and bought the Oxford Pantry Health Food Store. Jack and Pam enjoyed the store and ran a successful business for 20 years before retiring.

Pam loved gardening and enjoyed this pass-time in her retirement.

She became ill in 2014 and passed away on 10 December of that year.
