Susie Kate Stanley Mace died in Lampasas of fever and inflammation of the stomach.
THE LAMPASAS LEADER FRIDAY, JUNE 10, 1898. Death of Mrs. Susie K. Mace DIED-Wednesday evening, June 8, 1898, at 6:15 o'clock, at the family residence in Lampasas, Mrs. Susie K. Mace, wife of W. F. Mace, after an illness of two months of typhoid fever and perotinitis. Deceased was the daughter of Mr. Thomas E. Stanley, who lives out on School creek, and was born in Travis county, Texas, August 31, 1869; came to Lampasas county with her parents in 1875, and was married to W. F. Mace on September 28, 1892. Death is always a cruel invader, and particularly so in this case. On May 14, last, while the mother lay on what proved to be her deathbed, the grim destroyer claimed her youngest born as his own. Mrs. Mace had been ill for the past ten weeks, and while a great sufferer, she bore her afflictions with the patience and submission which had characterized her life. She was converted to God and joined the Baptist church in 1886, and was a true servant of the Master, filling the ideal of a perfect Christian and died in the full triumph of an endless blessed hereafter. She leaves to mourn her death a disconsolate husband and little son, Howard, five years old, aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Stanley, two brothers, James E. and John H. Stanley, four sisters, Mesdames R. B. Hines, M. F. Miller, Walter Walker and William Smith, besides a host of other relatives and friends. The Woodmen of the World and Ladies Circle held impressive services at the family residence yesterday morning at 8:30 o'clock, after which the cortege started for the burial ground, Stanley Chapel, thirteen miles north of town, on School creek, quite a number of friends from the city attending the funeral. The final ceremonies were performed at 2 o'clock, Rev. W. H. McGee conducting services at the grave." May the blessings of God rest upon the bereaved ones, and may they all be re-united in Heaven.
