On October 16, 1945, Edward was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy^[7].

Edward Daniel Stanley (age 40 - worked for General Utility for Clover Creamery Co.), committed suicide, on November 22, 1953, by carbon monoxide poisoning, from a motor vehicle exhaust pipe (he attached a big hose) and had a history of excessive use of alcohol, on Highway 613, in Boones Mill, Franklin County, Virginia and was buried on November 24, 1953, in Antioch Church of The Brethren Cemetery, in Rocky Mounty, Franklin County, Virginia^[8][9].
