Edward Daniel Stanley was born at 6:30 p.m., on April 29, 1913, in Blackwater, Franklin County, Virginia, to John Lewis Stanley (age 35 - worked as a farmer) and Ruby Catherine Jamison Stanley (age 25 - worked as a housekeeper)[1][2].

In 1920, Edward (age 6), lived in Blackwater, Franklin County, Virginia, with his father J. L. (age 42 - born in Virginia and worked in farming), his mother Ruby C. (age 32 - born in Virginia), his sister Otey (age 16 - name as recorded and born in Virginia), his sister Hattie (age 14 - born in Virginia), his brother Bennie (age 12 - born in Virginia), his brother Alfred (age 3 - born in Virginia), his sister Susie (age 1 - born in Virginia) and his brother Fred (age 6/12 - born in Virginia)[3].

In 1930, Edward D. (age 16), lived in Little Creek, Franklin County, Virginia, with his father John L. (age 42 - worked as a general farmer), his mother Ruby (age 42), his brother John A. (age 14 - born in Virginia), his sister Susie E. (age 12 - born in Virginia), his brother Fred M. (age 10 - born in Virginia), his brother John L. Jr. (age 7 - born in Virginia), his brother Page D. (age 5 - born in Virginia) and his brother Everett J. (age 3 - born in Virginia)[4].

On October 5, 1937, Edward (age 24 - worked at Clover Creamery), married Vergie Maye Connor (age 24), in Roanoke County, Virginia[5].

On October 16, 1940, Edward (age 27 - described as 5' 9" tall, blue eyes, 125 lbs., brown hair, a light complexion and worked at Clover Creamery, at 502 Nelson Street, Roanoke County, Virginia), registered for World War II, in Roanoke County, Virginia[6].

On October 16, 1945, Edward was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy[7].

Edward Daniel Stanley (age 40 - worked for General Utility for Clover Creamery Co.), committed suicide, on November 22, 1953, by carbon monoxide poisoning, from a motor vehicle exhaust pipe (he attached a big hose) and had a history of excessive use of alcohol, on Highway 613, in Boones Mill, Franklin County, Virginia and was buried on November 24, 1953, in Antioch Church of The Brethren Cemetery, in Rocky Mounty, Franklin County, Virginia[8][9].
