No record of the birth of Charles Stansbury has been found. His birth is an estimate based on the fact that he is mentioned as the lawfully begotten son of Sarah, the daughter of David Gorsuch in his will dated 1784. [1] He was the son of Elijah Stansbury and Sarah Gorsuch.
In a deed dated 2 MAR 1817 from the sisters of Sarah Gorsuch and their husbands: Charles & Mary Jessop, Kezia Buck, and Lavallin & Jemima Barry, the heirs of David Gorsuch, Charles Stansbury received a fifth part of the plantation called Stones Range as his share of his mother's inheritance from her father.[2]
