This family has an extensive history in "Maryland Genealogies, Volume II," accessible at ancestry.com, from which these notes are taken. I hope somebody has the interest in this family to fill out the ancestry.
Detmar Sternberg, "the ancestor of this family" (grandfather of this Thomas), came to Maryland (from Germany or Holland) in 1658 with his wife Renske and his son Tobias. He wrote his name Detmoore Stairnber in 1663 and Detmorus Sternberge in 1663. His wife was Renske, or Renscoe. The Land Office had him as Datmorus Sternber. He was raising tobacco in Baltimore in 1678 (Dodman Sternbrough).
Only one son was recorded, Tobias Sternberg, whose name standardized somewhat ias "Tobias Starnborough." Tobias acquired 100 acres land in Baltimore in 1671. "Tobias Stanborrow" was taxed on his tobacco crop in 1681. "Tobias Starnborough" was member of a Grand Jury in 1683. In 1688 he acquired 135 acres on the north side of Patapsco river ("Tobias Sternbridge") and in 1692 "Tobias Starnbarrow" was taxed in that area. He was taxed as "Tobias Starnborrow" in 1694 and another 185 acres were surveyed for him in 1695 ("Tobias Sternbrow.") He was a ranger - "Tobias Standborrow." He died in 1709. Richard Gorsuch was his chief creditor. His wife Sarah Starnbrough was administratix and her brother Luke Raven was mentioned as her brother. Her second husband was Enoch Spinks.
The oldest sons were twins: Daniel and Thomas, born 1678.

Since his Will contains not only the names of his children, but the names and lot numbers of the tracts of lands that they inherited, it may help sort out this family.
Because the proposed merge will require a choice of parents and siblings between parents and siblings of Stansbury 240 and 267, that choice can be made before the merge. I've deleted the connection between Stansbury-267 and its parents and siblings to make the proposed merge understandable. Sure , more research is required before merge, but since the merge is proposed already, my strategy seems reasonable and research can still proceed.
Does anyone have any information that confirm this theory?
Deserves a look. :-)
If you're not a Profile Manager or interested in working to research this, please don't reject this merge. These two profiles are either the same person, with one attached to the wrong parents, or they are different people, and the dates and locations on one of them need to be corrected.
Thanks!
