Elijah Stansbury was born on 5 Mar 1799 in Manchester, Baltimore, Maryland, United States. His parents were Abraham Stansbury (~1770 - ~1855) and Rebecca (Stevenson) Stansbury (1774 - 1839).
Elijah married Mary Hiltabidel (~1802 - 1854). Their children were as listed below.
The first record indicating the family moved to Tuscarawas County, Ohio, is a tax record from 1828.[1] The family is enumerated in Dover, Tuscarawas, Ohio, United States in the 1830, 1840, and 1850 United States Censuses.
By 1860, Elijah had moved to Plymouth, Marshall, Indiana. Three of his sons-in-law are enumerated in Plymouth in their own households.
Elijah died on 29 Dec 1860 in Plymouth, Marshall, Indiana aged 61.[2] He is buried in Stringer Cemetery, Marshall, Indiana, United States[3].

Stansbury, and Phidelia Stansbury (the precise ages of whom are unknown to the undersigned, though they are known to be over the age of 21 years), Jemimah Sponsler, aged 40 years; George Rosenbury, aged 39 years; Margaret Rosenbury, aged 39 years; Thomas J. Stansbury, aged 36 years; William H. Stansbury, Aged 34 years; Harietta Armstrong, aged 31 years; Sarah A. McDaniel, aged 28 years; Mary E. Camp, aged 26 years; Upton Stansbury, aged 22 years; Tishe Stanbury, aged 19 years, Charles Stansbury, aged 17 years; Elijah Stansbury, aged 13 years. The heirs are all residents of this [Marshall} County at this time excepting Thomas J. Stansbury, Adam McDaniel Sarah A. McDaniel, Sarah E. Stansbury, William H. Stansbury, Phidelia Stansbury, and John Armstrong, the six six former are residents of the State of Ohio, and the latter is absent in the army[4]
