Joane Stapleton was born circa 1444 at of Ingham, Norfolk, England.[1]
She married Christopher Harcourt, Esq., son of Sir Richard Harcourt, Sheriff of Oxfordshire & Berkshire and Edith St. Clair, before 21 February 1464. They had 3 sons (Miles; Sir Simon; & Richard, Esq.) and 1 daughter (Elizabeth).[2] A record is also found of Miles Harcourt in 1500 releasing his interest in property of "West Dean" to John Huddleston, second husband of his mother Jane/Joane.[3]
Joane Stapleton married Sir John Huddlestone, Sheriff of Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, & Cumberland, son of Sir John Huddlestone, Lord of Millum and Mary Fenwick, before 27 September 1486; They had 1 son (Sir John) and 2 daughters (Alice, wife of Thomas Beyll; & Elizabeth, wife of Sir ___ Leigh, & of Edward Redman).[4]
Joane Stapleton left a will on 18 April 1518; Requested burial at Hales Abbey, Gloucestershire.1,3,5 She died on 13 May 1519. Her estate was probated on 10 June 1519.[5]
