Elizabeth Starkey was born in about 1498-1500 at Oulton Park, Winsford, Cheshire, England. Her parents were Hugh Starkey, Esq. and his wife, Margaret (Egerton) Starkey. Both were from aristocratic gentry families established in Cheshire from Medieval times. Elizabeth's brother, Hugh Starkey, Jr., was an Usher to King Henry VIII and their parents are portrayed kneeling in stained glass windows at the church in Over township, after that church was rebuilt by Hugh Starkey, Jr. in the mid 16th Century. In about 1516, Elizabeth married Thomas Brooke, Esquire, of Leighton, Cheshire, about 10 miles south-east of Oulton. They had 6 children:[2]

Anna Brooke, b: ca. 1523; m. ____?___ Shelton of Bewdley
Katherine Brooke, b: ca. 1525 - no information
Reginald Brooke, b: 1521 - no information
Elizabeth Starkey died at Leighton, Cheshire, in 1531. She is buried there with her husband.
