Biography

Ellis drowned on the Brazos River not to far from Rainbow, Texas, but to the south. There is an oxbow in the Brazos river in that area. He is buried in the Goodlett cemetery plot of J. Ratliff. John Wesley Ratliff is the husband of Ellis's sister Mary. J. Ratliff died in November of the same year. There was some confusion about where he was buried as one source said Goodlett, TX and another said Wheatland, TX. According to the map of Texas the Goodlett cemetery is between both locations but is listed as Goodlett Cemetery, Wheatland, Hardeman Co, Texas
