Samuel was the oldest child of Jacob Starns and Elizabeth South. The Starnes book had information that he married Caroline Rheams. Had Birth and death dates. Samuel served in the War of 1812, Captain William Watson's Company 12 & 13 Consolidated Regiments, Louisiana Militia. on August 1, 1816, he married in St Helena Parish, Louisiana to Caroline Reems (Rheams) b 1800, died 1840, the daughter of Tobias (1754-1812) and Mary Reems (Rheams). Samuel is listed in the 1820, 1830 Census St Helena Parish and in 1850 Census is listed in the St. Landry Parish, Louisiana as age 50, farmer born South Carolina, Mary Ann Starns age 25 born La., Martha Starns age 20 born La., and Catherine Starns age 17 born Louisiana. (Evidently his wife Caroline had died about the year daughter Catherine was born in 1833 as she was not listed on the Census Record.)
The Information on this family was submitted to the Authors of this book by one of the descendants Mrs. Shirley Manning of Friendswood, Texas. Samuel Starns was found in the 1850 Census in St Landry Parish, Louisiana with wife Catherine and daughters Martha and Mary Ann. Found where he married Catherine Rheams on August 1, 1816, in St. Helena Parish, Louisiana. Unable to find him after that.
