Ulrich Stauffer (b. abt. 1415) is the earliest known ancestor of our Stover family of Markham. According to historian and genealogist Richard Davis, in "A Stauffer Family" at Mennosearch.com, `He was the first Stauffer of record in the area (Switzerland) ... `. Davis also tells us that in the year 1440, Ulrich Stauffer was living in Rothenbach, Bern, Switzerland. The identity of his wife is unknown. The couple had one child. Our Stover family of Markham descends from Ulrich and his wife and from their son, Peter Stauffer (b. abt. 1455). [1]
