Biography

John Stauffer was born in Muckenheiser, near Ibersheim, Germany, on 6 Aug 1715. His father died when he was very young, and in 1719 John travelled with his widowed mother, Veronica, and three brothers, in a party of Swiss Mennonite refugees to Pennsylvania. He married Katrina Schenck, of Conestoga Manor, in 1738, and settled with her near Schoeneke, in Lancaster County. They were the parents of 11 children, including Michael (b.18 Dec 1758) who moved to Virginia. [1]

John is reported to have died between 30 Dec 1766 and 16 Jan 1767 in Warwick, Lancaster, PA. (Source needed - perhaps there is a will to explain this date range)

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
