Samuel Stearns was born on 16 October 1666 in Dedham, Suffolk, Massachusetts Bay Colony.[1] He was the son of Nathaniel Stearns and Mary Stone.

He married Mary Browne on 9 July 1696 in Concord, Massachusetts Bay Colony.[2]

Mary and Samuel had the following children:

  1. Samuel Stearns, b. 15 May 1697, Dedham
  2. Mary Stearns, b. 29 January 1698/99, Dedham
  3. Nathaniel Stearns, b. 22 August 1700, Dedham
  4. Boaz Stearns, 2 September 1702, Dedham

  6. Ebenezer Stearns, b. 25 September 1706, Dedham
  7. Mehitable Stearns, b. 11 February 1708, Dedham

  10. Mercy Stearns, b. 16 January 1714/15, d. 31 December 1722, Dedham

Sometime after 1722, he moved to Connecticut to probably be closer to his son Boaz who was living in the Plainfield area. He was a deacon at the Congregational Church in Plainfield.

Samuel passed away on 21 September 1727. He is buried in the Old Plainfield Cemetery.[3]

Samuel died ( 6 Jun 1694) before he got married (9 Jul 1696)? I think he actually died in Plainfield, CT on Sept. 21, 1727. FaG #84627515. His age appears to be off by 10 yrs. (61 instead of 51). Thanx. D. Jenkins-761
