Biography

Bartholomew Stearns Jr. 18 Sep 1778, Holden, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Bartholomew Stearns (1742-1811) and Mary (Raymond) Stearns (1745-1817).

Military - Revolutionary War

  • Private in Capt. James Davis's Co., Minutemen, Col. Doolittle' regt., marched on the Lexington alarm April 19th, 1775; service 17 1/2 days;
  • Capt. James Davis's Co., Col. Flagg's Worcester Regt.; marched to Hadley Alarm Aug. 19, 1777. [1] [2] [3]

Marriage

Bartholomew married Elizabeth 'Betsy' Johnson 21 Jul 1811 in Rindge, NH. Betsy was a daughter of Samuel Johnson and Elizabeth Johnson, and a descendant of Isaac Stearns family. Betsy married Levi Page of Rindge, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, USA on 10 Jun 1811 following Bartholomew's sudden death in 1809. [4]

Death

Bartholomew died 10 Aug 1809 (aged 30) of a heart attack in Winchendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts, and is buried in Old Centre Burial Ground, Winchendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts. [5]
