Biography

Mary was born April 27, 1724. She is the daughter of Shubael Stearns and Rebecca Lariby.

She was conflated with a Dorcas Mastcraft, hence the original name here, "Mary Dorcas Stearns". These were two different woman. Dorcas Mastcraft was the 2nd wife of a Jeremiah Hatch, & this Mary Stearns was supposed as the 1st wife of Jeremiah. However, research now makes clear that Jeremiah Hatch married Mary Bates. Please see Jeremiah's profile for full details.

Subsequently, the children that were included in this profile, actually belong to the above mentioned Jeremiah & Mary Bates Hatch.

The Sept. 15th, 1777, Winchester, NH, death date & location are applicable to Mary Bates.

The life of this Mary Stearns is a mystery & as stated below by another researcher:

"There was no accurate information found for her. She may have died young; no records were found."

Research Notes

Please see the attached essay for more clarity on the confusion over Mary Stearns & Mary Bates.

Stearns-1099 and Stearns-737 appear to represent the same person because: Dates, parents match.
