Joseph Steele served under command of Captain Hezekiel and Chester Wells, Charles Churchill and Colonels Wolcott of the 9th Militia and Colonel John Chester of the 6th Battalion in General Wadsorth's Connecticut Brigade, 1776. He obtained a pension for his service - Pension Number: W19105. [1]

The DAR lists spouse Olive Churchill and a son Solomon who m. Deborah Overton.
