Profile category is "Needs Validation" & "Needs Transcription" - Which means the uploading of a baptism image (if possible), properly cited so that it will not cause copyright issues, and the full transcription [not only from FamilySearch itself] of the the baptism entry with LNAB (LastNameAtBaptism) to prove the spelling. The project profile (wikitrees-cogh-stamouer-progenitorATgooglegroups.com) has been added to the trusted list of this progenitor profile [Privacy Tab] and then also activated as active manager (though this progenitor profile still has to be validated with a [transcription of a] baptism [image]), and this profile has been Project Profile Protected). The bio has been been integrated as best possible for the time being. Primary records will probably still be around in archives in Europe and in the Netherlands.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jan Harmensz by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jan Harmensz:
Hi, could you please activate [COGH Stamouer-Progenitor Project WikiTree] as the manager for this profile instead of [Cape of Good Hope Project WikiTree]
Hi, could one of the active managers also add the project profile [email address removed] to the trusted list of this profile [Privacy Tab] and then also activate it as active manager to this profile, please? And send me a notice, thanks! (we are having this profile Project Profile Protected) Philip (project research coordinator)

This seems to be a duplication. It also seems that you perhaps have more detail around the Birth.
It would be fantastic if you have more details around this as Jan is the start of the line in South Africa, and it would be great to dig back into the line from this.
The marriage year in the data did not match that in the biography, or in the records. It looked like a typo, so I have changed it to the date given in the bio.

See "Pedigree Resource File," database, FamilySearch (http://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.2.1/S5H2-M49 : accessed 2014-10-03), entry for Jan /Steenkamp/. Though the exact date and place (town) of birth of Jan is not clear (quite a variety of place names all starting with 'Nieuw[...]'), he clearly did marry twice as the records will show and the baptismal records of his children will show.
