Biography

Mary Steep was born about 1853 in Ballyriggen, Limerick, Ireland the daughter of Michael Steep and Sarah Sherwood.[1]

Mary Steep married George McKay on March 15, 1877.[2]. The couple had five children. 1. Woolsey Irving McKay 2. Pietro McKay 3. Christina F. McKay 4. Sarah Elizabeth McKay 5. Bertha May McKay [3]

Mary passed away on June 14, 1944 at Auburn New York. She was 91 years old.[4] She was buried in Soule Cemetery in Sennett, New York.[5]

Mrs. Mary McKay

Mrs. Mary McKay, 91, of 123 1/2 Osborne St. died Tuesday night in an Auburn nursing home after a long illness. Mrs. McKay had lived in Auburn for 70 years and was a member of th Second Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. McKay is survived by two sons, Woolsey and Pedro McKay of Auburn; three daughters Mrs. Arthur C. Wallace and Mrs. George Bloechinger of this city and Mres. Guy Merrick of Buffalo; one sister Miss Agnes Steep of St. Catherine's, Ont., Canada; 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grand children, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 o'clock Fridayafternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Bloechinger 310 Franklin St., with Rev.Donald H. Mackenzie of Second Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be at Soule Cemetery.
