Mary was baptised on May 23, 1820 in Hascombe, Surrey and was the daughter of Phillip Stent and Emily Heath.
At age 20, she was employed as a Domestic servant by Henry Moline a Widower and a Miller of Farncombe. Farncombe was about 4 miles from where Mary was born.
She married Robert Oliver, a Tailor, on 6 March 1848 in Godalming at the age of 27. The marriage was registered at Guildford.

They settled in Peckham, Kent (1851) and Robert was employed as a Journeyman Tailor. Mary had 4 children to Robert, 3 sons Edmund, Harry, Albert and a daughter Elizabeth. The family next lived in Maidstone, Kent at Water Lane. (1861)
After Robert's death in 1863, Mary took on employment as a Laundress to support her family and they were still living at Water Lane.
She remarried on 19 January 1873, at Maidstone, Kent to Edward Vinten/Vinton, [1] a Labourer. The marriage was registered at Maidstone.
In the early 1880's, Mary was working as a Visiting Nurse in Willesden. Notably Mary is recorded as married despite Edward's death in December 1880. On Census night 1881, Mary was a visitor in the home of Alfred Board at Acton in Middlesex.
Mary Jacova (Stent) Vinten/Vinton passed away in 1896, Morden, Surrey aged 76 at the Union Infirmary. Burial on 18 November 1896 at Morden in Putney Vale Cemetery.
