Royal Navy Career:- Entered Navy 19 January 1829 : Commander 4 November 1840 : Captain 4 November 1846 : Retired Rear-Admiral 10 April 1865 : Retired Vice-Admiral 1 October 1871 : Retired Admiral 1 August 1877.
