Wife of Lewis Deweese, "Matiald" Stephenson is listed as mother of J.W. Deweese in his (J.W.'s) death certificate.^[2] They are listed in the 1880 census as LW, MA (35, born in Alabama), and Jas W Deweese.^[3]

She is listed as Matilda Ann Stephenson in the death certificate for their son L. Walter Deweese.^[4]
