Biography

Birth

Dr. John Smedley Stetson was born in August, 1867 at Albert Lea, Minnesota. He was the 3rd child and son of Samuel Stetson and Helen (or Ellen) (Boise) Stetson [1].

Born in Minnesota, his mother died in 1873, he then went to live with his Uncle Thomas Stetson, on his farm in Champlain, New York, where he attended school, [2] eventually becoming a physician in the Bronx, New York City. [3] his Brother Frederick Stetson also was living with Thomas' family in 1880. (along with Thomas Stetson's sister Lois). [2]
