Bathsheba Stetson was born in March 1692-93 in Massachusetts. [A] She was the 8th child and daughter of Robert Stetson and Joanna Brooks. [1]
On 16 May 1676, the Narragansett Indian raid on Scituate burned the Robert Stetson Jr. house. The next reference we have of Robert is in Duxbury, Massachusetts (Prior to 1700). [1] The Stetson family may have moved shortly after the 1676 raid and it is likely that most of the Stetson children were born in Duxbury; however, additional sources are being sought to support this.
On November 22, 1715 Bathsheba married William Holmes at Pembroke, Massachusetts [2] and the couple resided there until at least 1728. During this time, six children were born and record of their births can be found in the Vital Records of Pembroke Massachusetts to the year 1850 [3] Three more children were born after 1728, but there are no records of their birth in Pembroke, so the family may have relocated. By 1753, the family was located in Halifax as William sold 60 acres of land there to his sons William Jr. and Zebulon. [4]

The children of William and Bathsheba Holmes were:
Bathsheba (Stetson) Holmes passed away on March 30, 1763.
Her headstone is engraved with her death date and states that she was 70 years of age. [6] This would make her birth date between March 31. 1692 and March 30, 1693. [A]

Research Notes
Stetson Kindred Genealogical Index: 1-8-8
The New England Sliver Book [4] states that William Holmes married Bathsheba Stetson, daughter of Joseph Stetson and Hannah Oldham, born in Scituate on September 29, 1693; however, The Descendents of Cornet Robert Stetson publications state that Bathsheba, daughter of Joseph and Hannah married Samuel Gardener on January 30, 1722 [8] and William Holmes married the daughter of Robert Stetson and Joanna (or Deborah) Brooks. [8]
A. Note that the birth date of September 29, 1693 would make Bathsheba Stetson 69 years of age if she died on March 30, 1763 although the inscription on her memorial could be interpreted as her being in her 70th year. I believe the proximity in age of the two Bathshebas and their close relationship has led to the confusion between the two.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Barsheba by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Barsheba:
"Bathsheba, daughter of Joseph and Hannah (Oldham) Stetson, was born at Scituate, MA and baptized on September 29, 1693." is incorrect as it refers to Stetson-1256.
Not sure where Hannah came from as mother in this profile. The Descendants says her mother was Joanna Brooks Stetson, which is what is here and that is how I would have added it.
The entire listing for the children of Robert and Joanna (Brooks) Stetson are in Vol 1, No 1, pg 55-59. Mr. Barry and O.F. Stetson didn't mess too much up as they were a lot closer to the source.
Stetson-1185 and Stetson-301 appear to represent the same person because: Added Stetson 1185 before search was complete - Stetso-301 is the correct one and is now linked all the way back to the Cornet Robert Stetson.
Removing Samuel Gardner as spouse to Bathsheba Stetson. She was married once to William Holmes. See Mayflower Families, Volume 20, Part 1, p. 17; Mayflower Marriages, p. 257; Mayflower Births & Deaths, Volume 2, p. 260; Pembroke, MA VR's, p. 291

I have made a few corrections.
